But first the Buckaroos had to get set up again, and a sick 76-year-old man had to find a full 90 minutes somewhere in himself. He gave them all 90, the way he always did. He watched Keith’s bus keep going straight. He still remembers it. Three days later — May 9 — Keith called his mother. His brother-in-law Lane Palmer stopped by for coffee. They made plans. Golf, then lunch. Keith said he’d spend the afternoon writing songs. Some for himself. Some for Lorrie to record when she got home from Alaska. Lane left around 8:30. Told him to be ready in an hour.
